New Year!!

The New Year is just around the corner! Can you believe it?! Shandy gave an awesome talk on setting goals and the purposes the Personal Progress Program. I know that I am going to be better about working on my Personal Progress--especially after hearing about the new medallions!!! SWEET!! They are beautiful! I look forward to making this goal with you girls. I know that it will be a goal that will bless all of our lives.

We have already seen that the New Year has brought us some early changes. We will miss Karey immensely but know that she will be awesome in her new callings. We love you, Karey and hope that you check in on us still! With Karey's release we got to bring on some other amazing and fun leaders. Aubrey Gagon, Charity Horne, and Brei Bunker will now be joining us in Young Women! They are so AWESOME and we look forward to having them!

Thanks for being the incredible young women that you are. It is truly a blessing in my life to be able to learn and grow from your strength and testimonies. We love you all so much!! We hope that you all have a safe and Happy New Year!

Love, Your Leaders

PS Don't forget that Sunday our meeting time is 11 am!! YIPPPEEEEEE!! See you on SUNDAY!!

Temple Fun

I just have to share with you one of my favorite parts about our outing at the temple. All of us except Kristen, who was downstairs talking to "someone", were upstairs looking at the statue of Christ in the visitor center. Kristen called to find out where we were and Shandy said, "We are upstairs with Jesus!" Her commented busted me up at the time, but the more I've thought about it, the more I think that's exactly were we all should want to be, "upstairs with Jesus!" I hope that all of you set that as a goal for this upcoming year, to live your life so that you are worthy to be "UPSTAIRS WITH JESUS!"

Love to you all and thanks for spending such an amazing, freezing night with me. I think you are all AMAZING! Love ya! Karey

Chelsea's Challenge!!

Chelsea has challenged all of us to keep a record of our lives every day for 365 days!!! WOW!! That's going to be tough but think about how fun it will be to see what you have done/experienced/learned for an entire year! How neat is that!? I am so bringing on this challenge and I challenge all of you to do it too!! I double-dog-dare ya!!! ;)

Here is her challenge:

"Therefore I make a Record of my proceedings in my days" (1 Nephi 1:1)

Make a record of you! Blog about yourself everyday for 365 days straight!

We came up with a few ideas of things that you could talk about on your blog if you start running out of things. Here are a few of the ideas that we came up with:

-favorite recipe
-thought/quote of the day
-highlight of your day
-How the Lord has blessed you each day--challenge by President Eyring
-picture from your day
-something you learned that day
-"Confession Friday"--I love this one!! How fun!!

Anyway, bring on the challenge and let's see what you learn about yourself and others! Be sure to let us know where your blog is so we can follow yours too!!

YW Sports Survey and Service Project Info

Hey Girls!
I have posted a survey on the right regarding YW sports. Please take the survey so that I can report back to the Stake. Which activities would you like to do?

Also, remember that this Wednesday (Oct. 14) is going to be our service project for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. We are going to watch a little video about the Susan Komen Foundation which is really amazing, put together little goodie bag for all the women in our ward, and deliver the goodies to the women in our ward. We will have a PRETTY IN PINK contest and award the person with the most pink worn!! IF YOU CAN NOT COME ON WEDNESDAY PLEASE CALL ME OR LEAVE A COMMENT HERE! We will still meet at 7 pm at the church. So, here is the run-down for Wednesday...

1) WEAR PINK PINK PINK!!
2) Bring a coat or jacket as it might be cold while delivering.
3) Wear good shoes to walk/run in.

Leaders--I need to know if you will be there and able to help take YW to areas in the Ward. If we all work together it shouldn't take too long so please let me know if you will not be attending (except you Heather--I know that you won't be there.)

Thanks girls and I hope to see you all there! It will be a wonderful opportunity for you to reach out to your community. It's a small task but who knows...maybe someone's life will be saved because YOU reminded them to take a moment to take care of themselves before it was too late. :) I love you all!~ Jamie

Kickin' It with Chelsea!

So I don't know about you, but going to Chelsea's soccer game ROCKED MY SOCKS! I had so much fun even though it was beastly freezing and Taylorsville came out victorious in the end (BOO TAYLORSVILLE--That's right Jordan...you heard me! ;) ) Nah it was a great game and I hope that everyone had a good time. Isn't it so much fun to support one another?! Isn't it so great to have your sistas in the gospel yelling your name and embarrassing you in front of the entire sutdent section?! Ahhhh Good times!! Here is the proof:

Lisa looks so cute!! Don't you all think that Lisa is the cutest Aussie around?!

Our own little T-ville cheer squad! It was so fun having Jordan and her sisters with us even though they were confused the whole time as to who they should root for! ;)

Go Chelsea Go!!

Run Chelsea Run!

Kristen and Lisa--You don't even look like you were cold!?

See Chelsea? She is in the middle--nobody wanted to mess with her...

Before the snow fell....

Cassy, Kassy, Karey, and Baylee all snuggling it up! Yay for Karey's supply of blankets! Thanks Karey! And thanks for the great activity!!

Random picture that I never put up! Heather, Geniece, and Jamie after Geniece went through the temple and was sealed to her hubsters! We so love you Gee!!

Time to Evaluate!

Hey Girls and Leaders!

We had some great activities in the month of August but now is the time to evaluate them--what went well, what didn't, would you like to do again, and what do you think was great to do only once :). Here are the activities that we did in August!

Etiquette Dinner with YM- The YM planned and prepared a nice dinner for the YW. They escorted us to our seats and we all shared a meal together with our "dates".

Back to School Bash- (Stake activity) dinner and lots of socializing and games.

Personal Progress "P" Party- Everyone dressed up in anything "p" and brought a snack to share. Lesson on knowledge and mingling talking about Personal Progress and whatnot.

Baptisms at the Temple- cookies and temple baptisms at the Jordan River Temple.

We ask you to evaluate these activities so that next year when we plan activities we can see what worked and what didn't. Please don't worry about hurting anyone's feelings. Let us know what worked well for you and what can be done better. (ie. leaving at rush hour for the temple baptisms was not such a smart idea--next time we'll plan to be earlier.) :)

Good Luck at School!!

Wow! I can hardly believe that summer is already over!! I hope that you all have had a wonderful break from school but that you are eagerly looking forward to a new year of education!

I have always loved going back to school!! I am so excited for each of you as some of you are starting out at a whole new school, some with new friends that you met over the summer, and some of you just with a new perspective on what you want to get out of your time at school this year. I hope that you all make the best of it and don't simply say to yourself "Life will be better when I'm done with school." Life just brings on other complications once you are out of school so take advantage of the today and ENJOY IT!

President Hinckley said this about YOU:

"We have never had a stronger generation of young men and women than we have today. Surrounded by the forces that would pull them down and tremendous pressures to pull them away from time-tested virtues, they are going forward with constructive lives, nuturing themselves both intellectually and spiritually. We have no fears or doubts concerning their future."

I agree with this statement whole-heartedly especially as I have been blessed with the opportunity to associate with each of you. You are each individually incredible and I foresee great things in your lives if you continue to walk uprightly before your Heavenly Father. I know that He will bless you for doing your best!

Good luck at school!! Have fun!! Enjoy every minute--even the excrutiating ones in the middle of SATs, and course exams, and super long novels (We've been there...). I love you girls and I know that the other leaders of our ward and stake admire you for who you are too. Have a wonderful new school year!

~Jamie :)

Feedback on July activities

Ok girls! We had a busy July, but I want to get some honest feedback about the activities that we did. What do you think went well? What could be better for next time? Should we ever do that activity again? Here are the activities that we've done lately....

Water Games at the park--squirt guns and water kickball.

Freezer Jam-- made homemade freezer jam, read a talk, ate homemade rolls, kept 1 and delivered 1 jam to someone in need.

Self-Defense-- retired police officer came and taught us how to defend ourselves.

Beehive activity- party and games while older girls were on Trek.

Truly be honest about these activities and tell us how they can be even better. We are always looking for ways to improve and make sure that our activities give variety for everyone! Also feel free to make any activity suggestions as we are still planning activities for the rest of the year!

Stake Trek and Brighton Camp 2009!!

What a wonderful opportunity it was to go on Trek with you older girls and to visit the younger girls at Brighton! I hope that through both experiences you all grew closer to our Savior. I know that I have a greater appreciation for those incredible Saints that traveled so far to establish the church in a place free from persecution and tyranny. I wanted to post a few pictures for everyone to enjoy, but for those of you who went to either event, would you please post your own thoughts in the comments so that everyone can see how you grew from the experiences you had then we can all grow together! I love you girls so much and I am so proud of those of you who attended both Trek and Brighton Camp this year!!

Temple Anyone?

Hey girls and leaders!

I know that it is a busy weekend, but I made reservations to go to the new Oquirrh Temple Open House this Saturday (July 25th) morning. I know that some of you weren't able to go when the ward did so I wanted to make sure that another opportunity was available to you. We will be meeting at the church at 7:30 am--Trust me....it is worth waking up early for!! Let me know if you are planning on attending!!

Hope to see you there!! I think you are all so GREAT!!!

Love ya! Jamie :)

Self Defense Kicked BOOTY!!!

I hope that everyone enjoyed this activity as much as I did! Leave a comment and let us know if this is one that we would ever want to repeat! We missed those of you who weren't there! But here are some pictures for your viewing pleasure!

Yay for a BLOG!!

Hey Girls and Leaders!

We thought that this would be a fantastic way to get information out to you and your parents regarding Young Women's stuff! We hope that you will use this resource often to give us feedback on activities, post pictures, and share your testimonies so that we may all be strengthened and uplifted.

We love you so much and think about you every day!! I was reading in President Hinckley's Stand a little Taller and found this quote entitled VIRTUOUS LIVING:

"It all begins with our own personal virtue. Reformation of the world begins with reformation of self. We cannot hope to influence others in the direction of moral virtue unless we live lives of virtue. The example of our virtuous living will carry greater influence than will all the preaching, postulating, and theorizing in which we might indulge. We cannot expect to lift others unless we are standing on higher ground."

You are all incredible examples to me of wonderful and virtuous women IN the world. Thank you for being who you are! I look forward to continually growing right along side you!

Trek is in 1 WEEK!! I hope that those of you who are going are preparing yourselves spiritually as well as physically!! It will be a wonderful experience. Those of you who are not coming with us this time--plan on being there next time! Make that decision now to take the opportunity when it comes your way! I promise that you won't be disappointed!!

Love you all again! Have a WONDERFULLY FANTASTIC rest of your week!
